I’m in the UK.
Since I got here (7am local) I’ve had a bar of cadburys chocolate, 3 cups of tea and a cheese and branston pickle sandwich (otherwise known as a ploughmans). It’s good to be back!
On the downside I’ve read 1/2 the Daily Mail in the rush hour car park that is known as the M25 and reintroduced myself to my cat, who is getting seriously old and arthritic. I’m pretty down about how old he’s gotten actually.
I’d forgotten hold low the sun sits in the winter, and spent most of the journey being blinded by it. I just looked out the window and the sun has gone and it’s now snowing. Welcome to British winters. It’s 4 deg C btw. It’s a little chilly.
I also forgot that before you offer your last fasttrack card to the nice American sitting next to you on the plane you should check to see if 1/2 the known universe has flown in at the same time as you. I get them when I fly United Business and hardly ever use them but this happened to be my last one. The plane got in early, as did it seems the Virgin, Air Canada and several others. It was a little busy. Ahh well, I wasn’t in any major hurry and hopefully karma owes me one.
I’ve also confirmed that the PSP loaded with DVD’s (see Scotts excellent guide on how) is the mutz nuts. I was in United Economy+ (airmiles ticket) so no sleep and the thing saved me. I caught one plane movie, The Emperors club worked until the laptop died and then watched Uncovered and Mr+Mrs Smith on the PSP. The screen is ideal for plane lighting and once you figure out where to balance it, it’s very comfortable to watch.
Uncovered isn’t a very good film but is saved somewhat by the lovely Kate Beckinsale and her ‘no problem with nudity’ clause.
I discovered, to my horror that the 1.7diesel astra (think Chevy ‘classic’ for rough size) took 35 quids worth of diesel and was still only 3/4 full.
96.7 pence per litre is not a good deal. I’m pretty sure that BP has been taken over and now stands for Bloody Pirates.
I’m also slight concerned that I had to have a real think about the whole ‘drive on the left’ thing. Getting out of 1car1’s car park , onto the A30 and then the M25 isn’t a snap, although they offer very good deals on car rental (my Astra is 133 pounds all in for 7days).
I think I’ll have it sorted before my trip to Leicestershire (it’s an EHST not an EYESEST) on thursday, and the drive to Wales on Friday. Hopefully.
Anyway, enough of stealing mums office’s broadband! I’ve got my email, sent a couple back and feel good about ignoring it for the rest of the week.
I’ll be out of touch till the 2nd. Have a good time without me!
